About

Founded in 1919, the Canadian Federation of University Women has 118 clubs with over 7500+ members located in every province across Canada and is the largest affiliate of Graduate Women International (GWI) which advocates for women and girls worldwide. Each year, CFUW with its member clubs awards close to $1 million in scholarships, bursaries and fellowships to help women and girls pursue post-secondary and post-graduate education.
At a global level, CFUW works for the adoption and implementation of international agreements that will protect and benefit all women and girls. CFUW holds special consultative status with the United Nations (ECOSOC) and belongs to the Education Committee of the Canadian Commission for UNESCO. CFUW regularly sends a delegation to the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women.

CFUW Cambridge was formed in 1954 in what was then Galt, Preston and Hespeler.  It’s purpose was to promote understanding and friendship among university women and to work for the advancement of education, art, science, literature and social reform.
Life-long learning was important then and continues today! Monthly meetings address educational, political, social and cultural issues. Annually, CFUW Cambridge provides awards and scholarships of over $17,000 to local female students in high school and post secondary institutions.

As volunteers, public servants, artists, musicians and professionals in many fields and in all stages of life, we are committed to the promotion of higher education for women and girls.

The power of women working together!
